Our Projects

Residential

Affordable.
Luxury.
Quality.

These are the three integral components that
Buck Construction strives to achieve for each
and every homeowner.

Multifamily

An Affordable
Investment

The multi-family home is a wise choice for developers, investors, and/or the common hardworking American that would like to supplement their income, offset their mortgage, or own a rental property of their own. They can also be used to care for the aging or physically dependant family member as well.

Development

Historical
Rehabilitation

Genesee Tower Apts and Mary D Buck Memorial Apts are splendid examples of a graceful, older building put to new use and a new building built for graceful, older people. Historical rehabilitation of old buildings is one of our preferences.

Residential

Experts at designing and building custom homes

In order to maintain a tradition of excellence that was put in place by Richard M. Buck II, we feel as though it is very important to provide our customers with a product that achieves their full vision that stays within a specific budget, while also providing functionality and a finished product of outstanding quality.

Buck Construction is dedicated to Building Confidence in every endeavor. They are experts at designing and building custom homes and work closely with their clients to ensure that their needs are met in a timely, budget-conscious manner. Whether it is a single-family or twin home, Buck Construction knows how to get the job done right.

Not limited to building on individual lots, Buck Construction is also involved in a variety of housing developments. Those looking to purchase a new home can inquire about any of these multi-generational communities springing up around Central New York.

Modular alternative program

Because Buck Construction builds every home on-site, the home-owner-to-be has more control over options and a greater ability to customize their own home versus purchasing a modular home. With Buck Construction’s distinguished team available, the home-owner is sure to be satisfied with the end product.

Buck Construction is unique in its residential construction because they have introduced a modular alternative program in which they are able to build a custom, stick-built home for the same price as its modular competitors. Due to years of experience and immense buying power, Buck Construction has the ability to purchase quality products at pricing that is both beneficial for the company, as well as the customer.

Along with the considerable amount of resources available, Buck Construction has developed a team of project managers that have years of talent and construction experience that allow us to produce high-quality products. We choose to specialize and maintain an excellence in project management and on-site control, as well as maintain a level of professionalism in all projects that we take on so that we may provide a quality product that will build to a better future.

The talent of our team is the very foundation of our growth and success.

Multi Family

Intricacies of site planning and follow-through

Involved in a number of housing developments, Buck Construction knows in intricacies of site planning and follow-through. Specializing in two family houses, Buck Construction has the resources to build each house in a budget conscious manner. The muli-family house is typically a standard house or home plan that is connected to a mirrored copy of the house plan. There are a wide variety of floor plans and styles to choose from with many amenities included. With each house being customizeable, every client is sure to get the home they’ve always wanted.

144-unit apartment complex

Schuyler Commons is a 144-unit apartment complex designed specifically to fit the needs of the 55+ community.  These apartments allow maturing adults to downsize their means of living, while still being able to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.  Together, Steve and Rick Buck project managed this complex together beginning on June 1, 2007 and finishing it on time and within budget August of 2008.

Development

Genesee Tower

Genesee Tower was built in 1901 by the Utica City National Bank as the first “skyscraper” in Utica. In later years it housed the offices of Utica Fire Insurance Company. Finally, empty and outdated, the building was purchased and redeveloped by our organization into 66 apartments for elderly. Another one of our projects, Historical Park Apartments, was built in 1974, also as housing for the elderly, in one of Utica’s historical districts.

Mary D Buck Memorial Apts was built in 1980 as one of the newest and most lovely independent living apartments for the elderly anywhere. Designed with the latest in safety security and energy features, this is a very special building to the members of our family and the people who live in it.

Commitment to Professionalism and Integrity

In the 30+ years that Buck Construction has been in business, they have had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, keeping customer satisfaction and end-use in mind. Their understanding of their discipline has served them well as they’ve constructed new facilities and revamped existing structures with updated technologies. They understand that these are schedule-sensitive projects and work hard to finish in a time friendly manner.

Buck Construction prides itself on its reputation and commitment to professionalism and integrity. The project types are diverse, but their willingness to serve their clients with all the resources at their command sets Buck Construction apart and has long been a Buck trademark.

Harmony Mills

The Harmony Mills are comprised of three buildings that make up an 850,000 sq. ft. complex that sets right along the Mohawk River with a beautiful view of the Hudson Falls.  At the time of its operation in 1872, the mills were the largest cotton mill complex in the world.  The projected goal of this renovation is to create a community of high-end residential lofts, much like those seen in the SoHo/TriBeCa area in New York City.
After the completion of the first phase in 2007, the 96 units quickly gained 100% occupancy.  On February 5, 2010, Harmony Mills owners Uri Kaufman and Ira Schwartz, as well as the Harmony Group celebrated the commencement of Phase II in an official groundbreaking ceremony.  This phase will add 135 units to the existing 96, as well as an indoor swimming pool.

Professional Experience

EMPAC-Performing Arts Center

In October of 2004 Jersen Construction Group began the site work, Foundations, and Structural Concrete Package on the most cutting edge and complex structure ever built at the prestigious Rennsselaer Polytecnic Institute. The project had the following challenges.

Extremely sharp sloping site features on a postage stamp sized site. Building size of 375,000 SF built on a 3 acre site footprint.
Design/Build requirements on a fast track schedule.
Over 7000 embedded items and box-out locations.
Over 2000 detail changes on the fly mostly occurring within 8 hours of pour time.

Albany NanoFab

In January of 2001 the State University of NY at Albany embarked on the monumental task of entering the ultra competitive market of Research and Development of 300 mm microprocessor wafers. The project consisted of three phases.

Project Success:
After three years of project leadership this program has proven to be the single most successful endeavor SUNY Albany has ever undertaken as well as Welliver McGuire Inc, being delivered on time and under budget.

  • Development of an incubator office and lab space to collaborate with the ongoing R & D of this technology.
  • Develop 70,000 SF of class 100-cleanroom space inside 368,000 SF of support building that would become the foundation of attractiveness for Global Leaders
  • Installation of the computer chip collaboration business (ISMT) with member firms as IBM, Intel, Infineon, Invent, Texas Instruments and others.
  • World’s most cutting edge wafer building tooling into the world’s most advanced cleanroom facility.
  • This aggressive program had the impending challenges of:
  • Designing, building, and fit-up on a fast track schedule with the procurement constraints and red tape of the NYS government.
  • Delivery of the project within a concrete budget set from a conceptual narrative only of what the facility would be.
  • Value engineering the facility at 25%, 50%, 75% and 90% level of design to fit within the stages of funding availability over an extended schedule.
